Today marks two noteworthy events.

First, it is the 56th anniversary of the premiere of Star Trek. The original series was iconic and sparked a fan base that continues today. 

The second is that today marks the passing of Elizabeth II, Queen of England, who recently celebrated her 70th jubilee as monarch. She was 96.
